This stretch of the river is described in The Canoer’s Guide to the Connecticut River as “the most beautiful part of the river.” One can paddle north four miles, and see only one distant house, no motorboats, an occasional kayak or canoe, and occasional wildlife; deer, ducks, geese, a local nest of bald eagles, beaver, fox, mink, wild turkeys, and lots of other birdlife.

For kayakers and canoers  traveling the border, this could be your stop, after nights of camping, to be pampered, and sent off in the morning, after a blessed night’s decent meal, (with previous arrangement), peaceful comfortable sleep, bath and full breakfast.
